Caribbean Cruise from Boston

On October 28th I boarded the Jewel of the Seas which was supposed to sail that day for the Caribbean.  When I arrived on board, we were told that the ship would stay in Boston Harbor until Tuesday, Oct 30th, to wait out Hurricane Sandi.  Guests could leave the ship to go into Boston if they wanted to, but the weather was not very good and got worse by Monday afternoon.  There were 3 cruise ships and 1 tanker ship in the harbor.  Each had a tugboat pushing up against the side of the ship to hold it steady against the dock.  By evening there were small white caps on the waves in the harbor, but I didn't feel anything on the ship.  I guess Hurricane Sandi hit in the middle of the night when I was fast asleep.  We finally left the harbor Tuesday morning.  The sea still had large swells and the ship was rocking and rolling pretty bad.  Some guests and even crew members got sea sick.  Finally on Thursday we got far enough south that the sea calmed down.  After that the cruise was calm and enjoyable.

Little boats were rockin' and rollin' in Boston Harbor

Huge swells on the ocean on Tuesday

It's actually the ship that's going up and down - not the table top.

We had to skip two ports of the cruise because of the two-day delay, but I had visited them before so it wasn't a total disappointment.
